It
has always been Jana's goal to use her knowledge and skills to help people
improve their health and wellbeing on a holistic level. This is why she decided
to explore Homeopathy, the second most widely used field of alternative
medicine.
Jana
has a true passion for healing and has always been interested in biology, chemistry,
physics and the body-mind connection. In her practice, Jana is always striving
to uncover the root cause of each patient's unique condition and to support,
rather than suppress, the body's innate ability to heal. Her wealth of
knowledge and experience with regards to health issues has made her very adept
at perceiving disease on a profound level.
Jana
holds a DCH in Classical Homeopathy. Her homeopathic training at Vancouver
Homeopathic Academy (2004-2008) was vast and included the science of
homeopathy, homeopathic philosophy, homeopathic principles, the art of
homeopathy, and homeopathic therapeutic treatment of chronic and acute diseases.
She also studied anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. Before pursuing
homeopathy, Jana studied biochemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry,
analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, physics and mathematics at the
Technical Institute of Chemistry in Slovakia. During her training as a
Homeopath, before starting her own clinic, Jana also gained three years of experience
with clinical practice at Vancouver Homeopathic Academy. Jana is taking patients at Electra Health Floor in the heart of
downtown Vancouver. To book

Understanding Classical Homeopathy
Classical
Homeopathy or "Hahnemannian homeopathy" refers to the original principles of
Homeopathic medical system in which a single remedy (constitutional remedy) is chosen according to the person as a whole
(a person's "constitution" summary of physical symptoms, emotional symptoms, temperament and mental state)
that the sick individual is experiencing during the time of disease.
Homeopathic constitutional care can elicit a profound healing response and can
be extremely effective in treating chronic health problems that had seemed
incurable. It can also help activate our essential center of pure potential to
our unique purpose as well as help us to function more from our true essence.
The
state of restoring balance is the goal that homeopathic treatment is working
toward. Homeopathy is capable of healing many chronic and acute conditions. It
is a medicine that is both life enhancing and revitalizing, bringing harmony to
stressed bodies and restoring health in chronically ill individuals in a gentle,
natural and permanent way.
Treating the Whole Person
Classical
Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine based on the philosophy that our body,
mind and emotions are all interconnected. Based on this perspective, one of the
primary objectives of a classical homeopath is to find the particular
constitutional remedy that matches each patient's physical, emotional and
mental symptoms and features. The constitutional remedy is selected based on
the law of similars, taking into consideration the person as a whole, including
past and present symptoms.
The Law of Similars
The Law of Similars
is the principle that like shall be cured by like, or Similia similibus curentur.
This principle recognized by physicians and philosophers since ancient times
states that we must match symptom picture of an illness or injury to the
symptom picture of the medicine. Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of
homeopathy, found that if a minute quantity of the substance that produces
symptoms of illness in a healthy person, is administered to an ill person; it
cures the disease in the ill person. A simple example of this principle can be
seen with the common onion. Slicing an onion can cause symptoms of burning and
watery eyes, as well as sneezing and a runny nose. Many hay fever sufferers
with symptoms of burning watery eyes, sneezing and runny nose have found
dramatic relief after taking homeopathic remedy Allium cepa (the remedy made
from red onion). Thus the substance that can cause symptoms can, as a homeopathic
remedy, also cure them. However, the homeopathic remedies are given in minute
doses to avoid unwanted side-effects, making them safe to use even during
pregnancy or when treating babies.
Now, let's take a
closer look at what causes disease and how homeopaths find the right remedy for
their patients.
The Importance of Balance
The
body is the instrument through which we can achieve the ultimate goal of our
existence so it is vital that we take care of ourselves and maintain good
health. There is a vital force (chi) - energy, which sustains our bodies. And
homeopaths believe that good health derives from equilibrium between the mind,
emotions and body, which is maintained by this vital force, which regulates the
body's self-healing capabilities. The natural state of the body is balance and
the vital force maintains this balance.
When
there is balance, there is no struggle and we don't have any symptoms. We feel
at ease. However, when our body is not in this natural state of balance, the
vital force struggles to return our body to equilibrium. It is when the vital
force is struggling, that our body experiences symptoms—it's the body's
way of communicating that there is something wrong and we need to pay
attention.
In
order to know how to restore the balance in any particular Mind-Body system, it
is important to understand the patient's constitutional type.
The Constitution
In terms of Classical Homeopathy, the constitution is the total expression of a
person's characteristics. For example:
We
all experience different levels of energy, are susceptible to different kinds
of diseases, or are affected differently by stress each of our constitutions
have different patterns of energy, emotional experiences, mind-body
characteristics and different chemical or hormonal imbalances. Therefore, uncovering
the characteristics of our unique constitution is the starting point to knowing
what we must do to achieve balance and preserve health.
Learning
about the constitution is also integral to learning how to reawaken our body's
self-healing capacity.
Medical Intuitive Health Evaluation
Jana
is also known for her Intuitive abilities. She is helping people to assess
their health on an energy level. An energy assessment can be very helpful in
providing insight into what kind of energy changes are related to your symptoms
or illness that you may be struggling with. This evaluation assesses the body
for energy blocks, subconscious patterns and emotional blocks.
Usually
the location of disease or symptoms within the body where it
occurs has psychological and emotional meaning and significance. Symptoms
are result of an internal imbalance affecting the body's vital force (chi
energy) and disrupting its equilibrium. If the vital force is put under strain
or is weakened by any imbalance, the energy body will show blockages prior to
"manifesting" as a physical illness. Many people have found intuitive
assessment very helpful because it gives them the insight into what causes
their energy blockages.
